I really really love Paradise

Do | 06.02.2025 | Eröffnungsperformance 19:30+20:30+21:30, Sa I 08.02 19:30 Performance

In the center of this installation, you'll find a stage. A place where one can express themself, seek fame and fortune. Where failure is an option and judgement a certainty. As young artists, we project our dreams of freedom and personal growth onto the arts and it's institutions – a naive view of the world, similar to the one being constructed by the Disney movies we've consumed as children. The reality we then experience throughout our time at academies, during exhibitions and our own artistic development, is filled with capitalist "necessities" and precarious working conditions. We get to know what competition means, what support and thorough discourse is like. We often don't know where we're headed: Up, down or not moving at all. But most of the times we share a feeling of exhaustion, sometimes a very fulfilling one, one that doesn't affect our curiosity. At the end of my studies, with the deadline of a diploma exhibition glooming over everything, I decide to appear true to how I feel right now: like a zombie falling and flying through a Disneyverse. Overworked, overwhelmed, thrilled and happy. You can see me in the video of the big projection, filling the almost sacral niche. You'll find me on photographic works to the sides of the stage, where you can change in wich direction I am headed. You can experience a performance, where I'll celebrate the ballad Mercie Chérie, which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1966. An homage to the beginning and end of a relationship, an honest declaration of love to the arts, full of kitsch and theatrics.

You can put this mask on and enter the stage. What do you do when things go wrong? Sing a song.
