Juliane Melches (*1974), graduate psychologist (studied at the Free University of Berlin), graduate art therapist (studied at the Dresden University of Fine Arts under Prof Doris Titze), studied Fine Arts (Meisterschülerin) at the Dresden University of Fine Arts under Prof Martin Honert.
Non-medical practitioner for psychotherapy, further training as a systemic therapist (isiBerlin), catathymic-imaginative psychotherapist (DGKIP) and trauma therapist (ECQAT). Worked as a psychologist and art therapist in the non-governmental organisation ‘For the children of Kosova’ in Kosovo with war-damaged children and young people; in child and adolescent psychiatry at Ulm University Hospital with families with a child with a heart condition and in the youth forensics department at Arnsdorf Hospital in Saxony with mentally ill people who have committed offences, as well as freelance as an artist and art therapist in her own practice.
Lecturer in Art Therapy at universities and further education institutions (including Dresden University of Fine Arts, Nürtingen University of Art Therapy), from 2019 to 2024 professor in the Master's programme in Art Therapy at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter and most recently Vice Dean of the Department of Art Therapies and Therapy Sciences. Since 2024 Head of the Master's programme in Fine Arts and Therapy at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
Mother of one daughter, lives and works in Munich and Dresden in the Zentralwerk e.G. housing and culture cooperative.
