Lauren Burrow is an artist whose practice has recently operated between Naarm/Melbourne and New York. Lauren considers sculpture as an event, like language, or fog, that is moved through. Over the past several years, this work has investigated histories of Environmental Philosophy (also known as Ecofeminism) in Australia, and encounter and eroticism (related to 'error') as sites that turn away from inherited cultural principles of atomism and dualism. Lauren received a Masters of Fine Art at Bard Milton Avery College of the Arts in 2020, and the Australia Council Marten Bequest for Sculpture from 2018-2020. Recent solo projects include water table, PLI, Munich, 2022; A stick developing eyes..., Coconut Studios, Garamilla/Darwin, 2021; “Universal Building Supplies” [Masters Thesis Exhibition], Bard UBS, New York, 2019. Group exhibitions include A biography of Daphne, cur. Mihnea Mircan, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Naarm/Melbourne, 2021; Invisible Ruins, cur. Ella Krivanek, Holden Garage, Berlin, 2021; washed up, cur. Christine Nyce, Hessel Museum of Art, New York, 2021; Werethings, cur. Mihnea Mircan, Plan B, Berlin, 2019.
