Nicolas Cheng is an artist and researcher based in Munich and Stockholm. His artistic research interests focus on posthumanism, environmental humanities, practices of care, and the geopolitics of materialities. With his multicultural background and interdisciplinary approach, his work positions situated practice as an immersive way of knowing that extends well beyond the studio walls: an interdependent process of becoming capable of responding to specific contexts, invisible patterns and histories, as well as human and more-than-human others. For the past 20 years, he has lived and worked in London, Eindhoven, Treviso, and Stockholm. He holds an MFA from Konstfack University and a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. His work has been exhibited at the Pinakothek der Moderne, Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch, Triennale di Milano, the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), Z33 - House for Contemporary Art, the Dowse Art Museum, Objectspace, and Museum Arnhem, among others. Recent publications include Toxic Transits (Hagströmerbibliotekets Skriftserie, 2024), Earth, Wind, Fire, Water (Arnoldsche Art Publishers, 2020), and World Wide Workshop: The Craft of Noticing (ArtMonitor, 2019).

Nicolas Cheng has been a professor at the AdBK Munich since 2022.
