Stays abroad usually last between 2 and 5 days, but can also last up to 60 days if the corresponding funds are available (in each case excluding travel time). The teaching load at STA is at least eight hours per stay/week. Depending on the available budget, a repetition of the mobility is possible. Financial support is based on the different costs of living in the destination countries and usually ranges between 120 and 180 euro per day. Travel costs are also subsidised upon request. Additional funding may be available for employees with disabilities. An overview of the current scholarship rates can be found here.

Eligible destination countries:

  • Member states of the EU (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden as well as the associated overseas territories such as La Reunion, etc.).
  • Countries of the EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway)
  • Turkey
  • Northern Macedonia
  • Serbia

There may be no double funding by the EU, i.e. you may not receive another EU grant at the same time as the Erasmus grant. The DAAD rules out the simultaneous receipt of an Erasmus scholarship and another DAAD scholarship. If you are in receipt of a DAAD scholarship, please consult the relevant contact person. Stays in EU institutions as well as institutions that administer EU programmes are also not eligible for funding. You can find out which institutions are included on the EU website.

There is no insurance cover associated with an ERASMUS+ mobility grant. If you are funded by ERASMUS+, you are obliged to have health insurance, international health insurance, accident insurance as well as liability insurance with certain features - among others, the international health insurance must also cover pandemic cases. Please contact your insurance company as soon as possible. Alternatively, it is possible to take out group insurance at a reduced rate, e.g. through the DAAD.
